The future of leadership is leverage (part 2)

I left you with a question at the end of yesterday’s post about the future of leadership. The question was: What should we do? The context of the question was that leadership cannot stay the same while the environment around the leader changes. So, what do we do? My thinking around this has led me to a certain conclusion. The conclusion involves the concept of leverage. It was Archimedes that made the comment about moving the world with a long enough lever. While a fantastic thought, eventually the math works because levers multiply effort. The concept of the lever translates to leadership. If we want to effect the most change with our everyday effort, we must fully leverage leadership’s power. Yeah, I know. It sounds good, but what does it actually mean? What does it mean to leverage leadership? That’s for tomorrow (this post is part 2 in a series).
