Start to develop your leadership philosophy

I would rather have two years of you at 100% than 10 years of you at 70%. Energy matters more than duration.

I would rather we discuss your evolving career right now than pretend you will be here forever. We both know you are going somewhere. Why don’t we talk about it?

I would rather you be honest about how the work is going than bottle it up and keep quiet. We can change things, but they have to be surfaced.

Work is forever and permanently (and finally) becoming a two way street. Used to be the manager’s way or the highway. It’s a difficult change for many who are used to barking orders.

It means that leaders will need to identify what they want. They will need to start developing their own guiding philosophy.
