Make it easy.
Make the concept easier to understand. Make the work easier to finish. Make the gathering easier to attend.
Easy is hard. Easy is where the real work hides. Many of us attempt to make our idea easier to understand by barfing up more and more information. Or, we try to make our work easier by cutting just a few corners that nobody will notice.
We assume easy means add “more” or do “less.” Neither are necessarily true. Easy means precision. “Come over for dinner. It’s on Sunday. Be there about 6. Bring your whole family. Only bring a bottle of chilled white wine. We will serve everything else. See you then!” The easier something is, the faster you can make a decision and take action. When the path is clear, we almost can’t help but walk down it.
Easy is actionable, but easy is also memorable. We remember Einstein’s famous equation about energy (E=…). We remember what it means “if the glove don’t fit…” Something that’s easy? It’s easy to understand and easy to remember. For us to get anything to easy? That’s the work of genius.
Whatever it is, if it’s important, keep grinding on it. Easy always bears disproportionate rewards.
