My fly was down for half the day. Am I talking about that one time a few years ago? Nope! It was today. *Sigh*
Why am I telling you this?
What I have noticed is that the Universe has a sense of humor when it comes to teaching us about humility. Just when you think you have everything figured out… Just when you start hitting your stride and things are gellin’… Just when you start getting deluded by how great you are… You will be walking around for half the day with your fly down.
While the Universe might be smiling as it’s teaching us this lesson, the lesson is no laughing matter.
Humility opens us back up when naturally accumulating hubris starts clouding reality.
Only with humility can we contemplate better ideas from others.
Only with humility can we listen to that other point of view.
Only with humility can we truly make it about the outcome of our work and not our own involvement in the work.
Only with humility can we get out of our own way.
So, though I will never know how many of my colleagues were secretly laughing at me (I would be laughing too!), I do take comfort in learning this lesson once again.
Thanks, Universe. Message received.
