The power of micro-stories

Watch out for micro-stories. Micro-stories are those one or two sentence stories we tell ourselves about some aspect of our lives. Most people aren’t even aware they have these micro-stories. They also aren’t aware of how often they share these stories. “I would totally exercise, but I am just too busy.” “I’ve tried everything, it won’t work.” “My boss doesn’t get what I am trying to do here.” Micro-stories have an unequaled power to stop us in our tracks. It might be a correct story, but what if it wasn’t? What would happen if we just stopped telling that story?
