Relationships are the currency of the future organization

Relationships? They’re so important that I consider them the currency of the future organization. Teams within organizations will continue to compete for the best talent in the years ahead. This job market isn’t going away in the mid term. The better we are, as leaders, at building and maintaining professional relationships, the better chance we have at attracting and retaining the best talent to our teams. I know this might sound a bit too 30,000 foot level to be immediately helpful, so let me offer a relationship tactic. Ask a follow-up question based on the answer you got to an initial question. You would be surprised at how many people don’t ever ask follow-ups. They just move forward with whatever was said. Take the time to go a few questions deep. It shows you are interested in what the other person is saying.
