Offer a daily surge of grace

You can feel it, right? That swift undercurrent of tension and stress.

Our lives upended, we are trying to establish a new normal. Not easy. Plans seem to be changing by the day. Kids are home. Partner is home. You are home. Everybody is home. Tightly packed. Emotionally stumbling over each other.

Irritation is up. Frustration is up. The Zoom calls are thick with silent context.

It’s OK.

It’s OK to be out of sorts right now.

It’s OK to be more emotional.

It’s OK to feel the feels.

You are a person, not a bot.

And we can make it even more OK by offering a daily surge of grace. We can instantly let people off the hook for sleights and transgressions. We can let one person’s anger end with us and offer up warmth to the next person we get to interact with.

Also not easy. It will require more than you might have needed to give up until now. But that’s what leaders do. That’s the job. To stretch ourselves in service of our team, our clients, our community.
