Future Leaders create winning teams

We are competing? One on one?

I don’t like my chances.

Not because I don’t believe in myself. Not because I think you are that awesome.

But after a few decades I have learned that stuff happens. I have bad days. I get sick. I lose motivation. I get tired. More importantly, I now know that I don’t have all the answers.

But I will happily put my team up against you any day of the week.

You, the heroic leader worthy of the silver screen. You, the leader who has yoked only yourself with the burden of success and failure. You, the leader who believes all the ideas have to come from you. You, the leader who believes in carrying the day.

The stale beliefs of yesterday’s leaders (as illustrated above) simply won’t be able to win often enough in the New Work Economy. There’s too much to know. Too much to do. The expertise required is too varied.

For future leaders the ability to form and norm a team matters more now than ever before.

My humble suggestion: Be the type of leader who creates  teams capable of consistently beating any brilliant (but tired) leader with a thousand helpers.
